The day was May 28. This was the day my boyfriend and I caught a 19 hour flight from SFO (San Francisco International Airport) to BKK (Suvarnabhumi Airport, pronounced: [sù.wān.ná.pʰūːm]. Ahem.. Thank you wiki…) We had aisle and middle to be exact. It was a fairly good ride and we powered through without sleeping in attempt to mentally preparing for the time zone difference of 15 hours. Let me tell you, it wasn’t a success. I blame it on the 4 hour layover in Narita, Japan which was 16 hours ahead of San Francisco. Nonetheless, we made it to Bangkok and we were through immigration with ease. It always pays to plan ahead for a shuttle. Navigating a new country sometimes can be overwhelming. Thank you T-Mobile for allowing us free texting and data in 100+ countries at no additional cost! We finally made it to our hotel, The Phoenix at 2am on May 30th. It was late and we were running on excitement fumes. This led us to waking up at 6am, getting our first breakfast in Thailand (I was surprised to see that the coffee was sweet!) and catching a cheap Uber to town. (Yes, I know…) Cheers to the beginning of a 3 week Thailand trip with more to come! (And boy, it’s hot!)
Thanks lonely planet for the great map!
